The origin of Comas Giralt y Cía. It dates back to June 1935, when Mr. Rafael Giralt established the family business “Agencia Rafael Giralt y Compañía, SRC”. Since then, the following four generations have been at the helm of the company until nowadays, with the current “Comas Giralt y Cía. SRC.”
The company started in Portbou due to the high customs movement at the beginning of the century, years later the Barcelona office was opened in Via Layetana 21, a building where we still continue working today, and finally the one in Portbou was closed giving priority to work from the capital of Catalonia.
In 1993, the European customs sector suffered a major shakeup, when the single market with free movement of goods came into force for European countries, considerably reducing the volume of operations, and forcing companies to reinvent themselves by focusing on international and transoceanic trade, the current main type of traffic.
It wasn’t until then that the participation with the freight forwarding company Airtransa began to consolidate, achieving improvements in terms of trade routes, quotes, and international logistics. Airtransa is located in the cargo terminal of the airport, which provides a more agile and direct contact with customs when needed.
